Natural Healthy Cleansing Dieting, Rejuvenate your Body easily
Because the cells of your body are created from the nutrients that you take in, the foods that you eat are an integral part of your detoxification program. From a purely physical aspect, you literally are what you eat. Your body is continually renewing itself, making new blood cells every day. In only four months, your entire bloodstream is replenished. The soft tissues of your body are made new approximately every three months, and your bone cells are replaced each year. Virtually your entire body is recreated every seven years. Each time you eat, you have an opportunity to improve your health and renew your body.
The Basics of a Cleansing Diet
A purifying diet provides your body with all of the nutrients it needs to function optimally, and also gives your body the opportunity to cleanse and rejuvenate. The healthiest diet is one that helps your body to detoxify on a daily basis. In addition to the foods you choose to eat, how and when you eat has a significant impact on your health. By choosing fresh, organic foods, not overeating, and including plenty of cleansing foods each day, you are giving your body the opportunity to keep up with daily maintenance. This allows for ongoing rejuvenation, which translates into increased energy, vitality, and health.
A purifying diet focuses on fresh, organic vegetables and fruits, complex carbohydrates in the form of whole grains and beans, easily digestible proteins, and healthy sources of essential fats. In addition to choosing health-supportive foods, avoiding foods which tend to create toxins is essential. Saturated and polyunsaturated fats, refined flour and sugar, processed foods, caffeine, alcohol, and excessive animal proteins place a burden on the liver and organs of elimination and cause impurities to build up in the body.
The healthier your daily diet, the less need you will have for drastic dietary measures. I frequently see people who pay virtually no attention to their diets for 51 weeks out of the year, and then decide to fast on nothing but water for a week. The results are almost always disastrous—they have unpleasant reactions such as headaches and fatigue and invariably break their fast with a radical binge on pizza and ice cream. Fasting can be a valuable tool for cleansing, but it is most effective when employed as part of an overall healthy approach to nourishing your body.
Purifying Diet Principles
Principle #1: Eat Organic Foods and Drink Pure Water
This is the first and most important principle. Pesticides, herbicides, and other poisonous agricultural chemicals in our food supply—and water—are a primary source of the toxins that we are exposed to. The liver and other organs of detoxification have difficulties breaking down and eliminating these substances; consequently, they end up stored in your body, where they damage cells, lay the groundwork for degenerative diseases, and cause premature aging.
Principle #2: Eat a Variety of Health Supportive Foods
Every person is unique, and each person’s dietary needs will vary from day to day, depending on physical activity; climate, season, and weather; and emotional and physical demands. Vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, fresh fish, organic poul try, some organic dairy products if desired (primarily yogurt and goat cheese), and healthy fats and oils (extra-virgin olive oil and small amounts of organic butter) form the basis of a health-enhancing diet. Eat a variety of foods to obtain a wide range of health-supportive nutrients, and let your choices come from your body’s wisdom.
Principle #3: Eat an Abundance of Fresh Vegetables and Fruits
Fresh organic vegetables and fruits contain a variety of vitamins, minerals, and other protective substances that prevent the cell damage that leads to degenerative diseases and premature aging. In addition, fruits and vegetables are the most purifying foods for the body. Try to eat at least 5 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruits daily.
Principle #4: Eat Plenty of High-Fiber Foods
A fiber-rich diet speeds the removal of wastes from the body, and helps to naturally cleanse the intestinal tract. Soluble fiber (found in fruits, vegetables, legumes, and some grains and seeds) also helps to lower harmful cholesterol levels, and binds toxins in the intestinal tract to prevent their reabsorption into the bloodstream.
Principle #5: Avoid Congesting Foods
Certain foods are difficult for the body to digest and tend to create excess mucus and toxins, which interfere with healthy organ functioning. Saturated, polyunsaturated, and hydrogenated fats, most dairy products, baked flour products, refined and processed foods, sweets, and red meats are the primary offenders. Coffee and alcohol are are also dietary stressors, because they are drugs which must be detoxified by the liver. During a cleansing program, these foods are best avoided.
For optimal health, I recommend never eating polyunsaturated or hydrogenated fats, and limiting your intake of all other congesting or stressful foods. Don’t become obsessed with eating a perfectly pure diet, but do pay attention to how you feel after eating certain foods. Good food is one of life’s great pleasures, and I believe that eating should be an enjoyable experience. If you follow the basic principles of a cleansing diet on a daily basis, there’s no reason to not enjoy a glass of wine or a special dessert on the weekend or at a party.
